March is American Red Cross Month. This month is used as a chance to honor and celebrate the everyday heroes across the country who help the Red Cross organization fulfill their mission (Cross, 2017). This is a great opportunity to become a part of the Red Cross mission by:
Making a donation
Giving blood or hosting a blood drive
Taking, teaching or hosting a class
Volunteering
Getting involved in a group or program
And much more
The Red Cross provides shelter, food, emotional support and other necessities to communities nationwide. By joining a Red Cross chapter, you can help support the mission as well as receive training in first aid, water safety and other lifesaving skills. You can honor and celebrate local heroes by helping those in need. To find out more information about supporting the Red Cross, visit redcross.org.
About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
