Our social media team had the pleasure of interviewing one of our members Alexandra Plotz (Alex), current title-holder of Miss Illinois USA. Alex is a recent graduate of Mizzou with a degree in Communications. She has a passion for fitness and wants to bring awareness to her platform for heart health and the importance of physical activity. Alex’s experience with a family history of cardiac-related issues has ignited the driving force to bring awareness to the subject of heart health.
Alex is a strong advocate for wearing a heart rate monitor while exercising to be more in tune with your body and to utilize the data to determine any irregular changes during a workout.
Alex encourages everyone to invest in a personal heart rate monitor, schedule regular physician appointments, and to be aware of their family history. Prevention is key as many of the risk factors for heart disease are lifestyle based.
