Healthy Food Tips for Independence Day
One of the highlights of summer is the family Independence Day party followed by fireworks. You don’t have to compromise your healthy diet to have fun and enjoy what’s on the menu this holiday. Here are a few tips for healthy and tasty options this Independence Day.
1. Choose lean proteins such as salmon and chicken breast for grilling
2. Use a homemade marinade for flavorful meat with less sodium than bottled marinade
3. Grill vegetables or fruit as a healthier side dish
4. Make green salads with vinaigrette dressings
5. Serve infused water with fruit as a sweet and hydrating drink. Sparkling water or unsweetened tea are also healthier beverage alternatives
6. Decorate your food table with red, white and blue fruits such as watermelon, raspberries, blueberries and cherries
7. Use a light or reduced fat mayonnaise for potato or macaroni salad
We would like to wish you and your family a Happy and safe Independence Day!
